Mar-a-Lago Was Cited for 15 Food Safety Violations in November

Hot dogs rolling around on the floor. Expired curry sauce. Just another day in paradise.

Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s winter getaway in the armpit of Palm Beach, Fla., sounds like a real paradise. Spas. Tennis courts. Pools. Expired curry sauces, casually wasting away in freezers. Et cetera.

A series of inspections conducted by Florida state health inspectors on November 8 of last year, one year to the day after Trump was elected, uncovered a grand total of 15 kitchen violations on the resort's premises, the Miami Herald reported on Monday.

The Mar-a-Lago kitchen amassed up a brag-worthy list of kitchen violations, the paper reported, with such transgressions as improperly marking curry sauce that had expired in late October (and stowing it away in the freezer) and allowing hot dogs to litter the ground of freezer rather than stashing them on, say, the actual shelves where they belonged.

The violations ranged from basic (scoop handles touching the flour when the flour wasn’t in use; wet wiping cloths used for sanitizing surfaces not stored in sanitizing solution) to intermediate (access to a sink meant for handwashing was obstructed by a garbage can) to "high priority" (storing skim milk at 49 degrees Fahrenheit, well above the recommended 41 degrees Fahrenheit).

Thankfully, most of the issues were corrected immediately on-site and didn't require a follow-up inspection.

Still, this is not the first time Mar-a-Lago has been marked for food safety violations. Last year, it was cited by state inspectors for such misdemeanors as serving smoked salmon before subjecting it to "proper parasite destruction” and letting raw chicken bask away in 49-degree heat. Yum!

Mar-a-Lago did not respond to immediate request for comment from MUNCHIES on Tuesday—but hopefully the hot dogs are still in a fridge instead of on the floor.
