Hear Sables, Chiefs And Hopium Remix Bertie Blackman's "Run For Your Life"

THUMP Preview of new remixes from Sable, Chiefs and Hopium.

Things are moving quickly for Bertie Blackman, racing toward the release of her fifth album The Dash. The first single "Run For Your Life" gives a sense of the momentum. It's an 80s inspired jam; an ode to escape and freedom. For Bertie the record was a chance to make a fresh pop record with a variety of producers, and while we wait to hear the rest of the record THUMP is very pleased to preview some alternate takes on the original. Perth's Sable spotlights the emotive heart of the song with his electro-pop power ballad version. Chiefs takes the song straight to the club with a euphoric hip hop overhaul that captures and concentrates the energy of the original. And fellow Melbourne act Hopium complete the remix package with an equally powerful slow electro overhaul. We're digging the reworks, and Bertie Blackman shares her thoughts on each below as well.

Bertie Blackman:
Sable. I was really moved when I heard this mix for the first time. It doesn't feel like a remix to me, but a really beautiful version. It really made me think about the song differently. There's a longing that shines through, and there is definitely that ache in the original. But the lilt and beauty of that longing has become the feature in this. Love it.
Chiefs: This is my first EDM mix and it makes me want to dance! It's an awesome crunch of a bunch of different electro styles I dig. Gimme some kind of outrageous drink on a volleyball court at night on the outskirts of Jamaica and I will feel at home.
Hopium: This remix really takes "Run For Your Life" to more of an underground lair. It's got a bit of a Kanye vibe, and it rumbles in its industrial façade. When i first heard it i was walking in the city and I had no headphones, so I shoved the speaker in my ear surrounded by the city rush of people looking sideways at the raucous ruckus coming from the tiny speakers.
