Piotr Sokul is a well-educated deviant-documentarian. Based in Vienna and educated in law, I recall him asking us to pull photographs from his zine as he 'feared half his town would kill him.' We stuck the remaining copies in a box and within the week he was effectively run-off of the internet- website sparse, flickr bare, everything deleted. It's a shame to think of the fantastic photographs confined to archives and hard drives. Couple that with his claim of losing "30-40 cameras a year" and one can't help but marvel at how he keeps at it. However, his recent revival has pleased the tumblr-verse to no end: vivid snaps of a life well-lived and equally well-documented. It seems that it's worth the risk of the occasional scrap in exchange for a collection phenomenal frames.
