Match Ends in 1-1 Draw on Two Goals that Should Never Have Gone In

The two sides played a scoreless game for over 90 minutes and ended in a 1-1 draw after scoring goals they never should have.

So this is a weird one: Doncaster Rovers and Bury ended in a 1-1 draw in their Football League opening match this weekend after some mishaps following a player injury. The teams had played to a scoreless draw for some 90-plus minutes before Bury defender Nathan Cameron went down with an injury. Bury played the ball out to give him time to be treated by medical staff. Once Cameron was all squared away, Doncaster obviously now had possession of the ball. Typically, the sporting thing to do would be for Doncaster to play the ball back to Bury, since they only gave up possession for their injured teammate. That's when things got tricky.

Instead of giving the ball directly to Bury, the ball was actually played in to Harry Forrester, who tried to kick it back to the goalkeeper. In what Doncaster manager Paul Dickov called "Harry's best shot of the day," Forrester kicked it over the keeper's head and into the goal for an accidental 1-0 lead. Forrester was immediately apologetic and after some discussion between the teams and the referees, it was agreed that Doncaster would let Bury equalize.

Which led to this weird scene of Doncaster players making half-hearted attempts at defending, and the crowd booing, as Leon Clarke made his way down field.
