Glitter, Wining and Sun: Notting Hill Carnival in Photos

Photographer Charlie Kwai went along to capture what he saw.

This year's Notting Hill Carnival hit all the usual notes: dazzling floats, comedy dancing policemen, endless wining, paint and chocolate squirting through the air, Holland Park mums inexplicably trying to push strollers through the Rampage crowd.

However, what really defined this year's event were the tributes paid to the many victims of the Grenfell Tower fire. On both the Sunday and the Monday, crowds stopped dancing to observe a minute's silence; people carried banners and flags in remembrance; and thousands came decked out in green, the colour organisers had asked attendees to wear to show their respects.
