If you’d like even more rock-solid proof that we inhabit the dumbest possible time in history, here’s a story. This past Saturday morning, WLS-Ch.7, a Chicago ABC affiliate, mistakenly aired a broadcast relating to the Olympics with a graphic brazenly stating "P.F. Chang 2018.”The phrase P.F. Chang, which refers to a sprawling "Asian-inspired" restaurant chain in America, is phonetically similar—I guess, if you squint or are being super charitable to whomever screwed up here—to Pyeongchang, the South Korean county where the 2018 Winter Olympic Games are currently being held.

P.F. Chang’s took the blunder in stride, confirming on Twitter that it is not, in fact, hosting the Olympics. (The chain did not respond to immediate request for further comment from MUNCHIES.)Gotta love another day where America continues its descent into an idiocracy of the highest order!
This blooper was the gnarly result of some crossed wires, claimed Jayme Nicholas, a spokesperson for the offending ABC affiliate. Nicholas, who did not respond to immediate request for comment from MUNCHIES on Tuesday, told the Chicago Tribune on Tuesday morning that the graphic was created for a different satirical piece by anchor Mark Giangreco aired the day before wherein “viewers were encouraged to invent their own Olympic sports." It was just mistakenly used for Rivera's entirely serious broadcast. (Neither Giangreco nor Rivera responded to immediate request for comment from MUNCHIES, either.)Mistakes happen, but, uh, yikes. That must've been some hard-hitting satire.
