Parsnip's Poppy Track Was Born in a Packed Moroccan Train Carriage

Listen to a song from the Melbourne four-piece's debut release.

Yes, we are all unhealthy. Most of us are going to die from poor nutrition, too much booze and lack of sleep. Just deal with it, listen to Parsnip's new song "Health" and resign yourself to the fact that the gym membership you bought earlier this year could have been money better spent. On pizza.

The Melbourne four-piece's debut record is out November 10 on Anti-Fade and today we share the first track. The song, that skips with poppy pep, was written by the band's bassist Paris Richens while she was travelling on a crowded train between Tangier and Marrakesh.

"My friends and I assumed that it would be a pleasant trip simply based on the Crosby, Still and Nash tune but we ended up having to jump on a moving train where babies were crying and people were screaming. I found an empty carriage which everyone quickly piled into. I got a window seat at least. Over the next 12 squished and sleepless hours I wrote "Health.""

The record comes just in time for Parsnip's national tour of Australia as part of Gizzfest, the annual festival curated by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.

Parsnip's debut 7" is available Nov 10 on Anti-Fade. Preorder available here.
