Here Are the Best Coffee Shops to Get Your Caffeine High in San Francisco

Bright and spacious spaces, fair-trade single-origin coffee, fast WI-FI and a surplus of outlets: whatever you're looking for, we've already found it for you.

Every major city has its share of coffee shops where you can get a decent cup of java and a pastry, but few have more than San Francisco. Sure, you might wind up paying $10 for a cup of coffee and a piece of toast (welcome to SF), but they'll taste so damn good you won't even care.

We scoured the city for the best places to get a caffeine fix, so you don't wind up in a dark hole without internet, drinking a glorified cup of Folgers. Whether you're just in need of a caffeine injection to keep you going after hitting it a little too hard on the Jameson and draft beer at the city's amazing dive bars or you need to set up a meeting to pitch your startup to the tech elite used to paying for that $5 toast, we've got you covered. Bright and spacious spaces, fair-trade single-origin coffee, fast Wi-Fi and a surplus of outlets: whatever you're looking for, we've already found it for you.

Four Barrel Coffee: Basically the literal watering hole of Valencia Street, Four Barrel serves top-notch coffee that attracts everyone from bespectacled graphic designers to hungover bartenders to loitering skaters. It changed the game of San Francisco's coffee culture, dooming a huge populace of the Mission to only settle for good coffee for the rest of their lives.

Sightglass Coffee: For trü, trü coffee snobs, even too snobby for Four Barrel, Sightglass offers the sort of perfectionism that makes coffee seem less like burnt bean water and more like the kind of thing you should immediately quit your job to pursue as an art form.

Andytown Coffee Roasters: This Outer Sunset café is meant for soaking in the salty Pacific Ocean air while sipping on espresso and filling up on housemade pastries that include Irish soda bread, scones, and some of the best blueberry muffins you've ever had in your life.

Blue Bottle Coffee: What hasn't been said about Blue Bottle? If "single-origin beans" and talk of the "third-wave coffee movement" are music to your ears, this is your mecca. The espresso drinks and drip coffee always receive rave reviews, but coffee nerds flock for the New Orleans-style iced coffee, which is sweet, creamy, cool, and damn caffeinated.

Trouble Coffee: Out in the foggy Sunset District, Trouble serves some of the best coffee around, and more importantly, some incredibly thick cinnamon-sugar toast that both summons childhood memories and warms your heart from the constant chilly gusts that waft down Judah Street.
