Joey Fatone Picked the Perfect Name for His New Hot Dog Stand

What does one eat at a joint owned by a former boyband member? The Boybander, of course: five mini hot dogs meant to represent the five beloved members of NSYNC.

Being in a 90s boy band can lead to a lot of things. Some boy band members have, of course, faded into a life of obscurity and white wine benders. But others—Justin Timberlake and Mark Wahlberg comes to mind—have used their early fame to craft remarkable creative careers in the entertainment industry.

Then there's Joey Fatone. He is apparently not one to be left behind, no matter how many movies about missed connections he acts in. The former *NSYNC band member has parlayed his time in the public eye into a continuing career in competition shows (he came in second in the 2007 season of Dancing with the Stars) and Food Network TV hosting (he hosted Rewrapped and My Family Recipe Rocks), to name just a few of his post-NSYNC ventures. He was also featured on Rachel vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off.

And now Fatone is getting into the hot dog business, just like every singer eventually does. His new food stand, Fat One's Hot Dogs and Italian Ice, is set to open this August in Orlando's Florida Mall.

A native of Brooklyn, Fatone and his family moved to Orlando when he was a teenager. He told the Orlando Business Journal, "After years of working on television food shows, I'm excited to open this new venture, which is a combination of who I am, where I'm from and where I've been."

In fact, Fatone says "Launching Fat One's at The Florida Mall, where I roamed as a middle school kid, felt like a perfect fit for our first location."

Lance Bass, who is still a good friend of Fatone's and is godfather to Fatone's children, tweeted about the new hot dog joint. "This is just perfect," he wrote. "The perfect amount of wrong."

Eating boy band-themed hotdogs in the cesspool of humanity that is an Orlando mall doesn't really seem all that great in our book, but who are we to hate on Fatone's venture? He even had the self-awareness to base the name of the joint on his longstanding nickname.

Now if only they could get Werner Herzog to back a wienerschnitzel stand called Wernerschnitzel, that mall would be really starting to shape up into something spectacular.
