Summer is over, and we're just as sad about it as you are. But if it's any consolation, while your local swimming pool might be closed for the season, your local farmers market is still very much open for business, and there are plenty of goodies to be found.

We love picking up acorn squash for a bowl of comforting soup, or a jar of raw honey to put on just about everything. But it's way more exciting to use fresh produce for a killer cocktail (that honey just isn't going to give you the same kind of buzz).

Making your friends a cocktail with seasonal fruit will make you a damn hero—actually, mixing up anything beyond a gin and tonic or Cuba libre will pretty much make you a superhost. So head down to the farmer's market and pick up some ground cherries before they're completely out of season, and make this mind-blowing cocktail courtesy of Top Chef judge and food-world veteran Gail Simmons.

RECIPE: Ground Cherry Cocktail

Simmons recently came by the MUNCHIES garden and muddled some of our tart, butterscotch-y ground cherries with simple syrup, and mixed them with white rum and and fresh basil to create cocktail perfection. Summer, we're not quite done with you yet.
