Welcome the Year of the Monkey with These Black Sesame Dumplings

Who the hell needs a New Year's resolution when you've got piles of homemade dumplings?

Did you miss Chinese New Year? After all, it was a Monday. The Monday after the Super Bowl, no less. Some of us were feeling a little less than bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. More like beer-drowned and nacho-stuffed.

Anyways, it's not too late to enjoy the best part of the lunar holiday after the fact. That's because, as with virtually any holiday, the most enjoyable aspect of Chinese New Year is stuffing yourself with all sorts of decadent seasonal treats. As if we needed another excuse to face-dive into an overstuffed basket of dumplings.

This particularly photogenic variety comes courtesy of hostess with the mostess Sue Chan, and is filled with a sweet black sesame paste. Think of them as a jazzed-up version of tang yuan, rolled in crushed peanuts and drizzled with creamy condensed milk.

Now all we need is a huge paper dragon to deck out the living room, and we'll know the Year of the Monkey is going to be swagged out as all hell. Who the hell needs a New Year's resolution when you've got piles of homemade dumplings?
