Smoked Mai Tai Recipe

Sydney’s Ed Loveday puts a sultry twist on an old classic.
Smoked Mai Tai Recipe

Ingredients

2 tablespoons|30 ml Captain Morgan Original Spiced Gold
1 tablespoon|15 ml orange curacao
2 tablespoons|30 ml lime juice
1 ½ tablespoons|20 ml smoked orgeat

Directions

Authors note: To smoke the orgeat, you'll need Google and an outdoor grill. Or better yet: buy yourself a PolyScience Smoking Gun—you can get one online and they're not insanely expensive. If you're using a smoking gun, fill half of a small pot or sealable container with orgeat. Place the lid over the top and pipe the smoke into the container. Remove the pipe and seal the lid. Let it sit for 30 minutes.

  1. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker.
  2. Add ice and shake HARD… Until the sides of the shaker frost over.
  3. Strain into a short glass filled with cracked ice.
  4. Garnish with a wedge of pineapple, mint sprig ,and a mini umbrella. Or a tropical flower. Or honestly whatever you want, just make it over the top.
