Terrible Rapper Runs into Ocean to Avoid Paying $465 Dinner Bill

Omeros Bros is one of more than a dozen restaurants at Marina Mirage, a picturesque shopping and dining area on Australia's Gold Coast. Diners have breathtaking views of the yachts moored in the marina—and they have easy access to the Coral Sea, should they decide to run straight into the water instead of paying their bill.

That's what Terry Peck allegedly did on Sunday night, skipping out on a $465 dinner bill by sprinting down the beach and diving into the sea. According to his unpaid check at Omeros Bros, Peck downed four Coronas and ate a baby octopus, two whole lobsters (which cost $146 each), and a half-dozen raw oysters, as well as threw back 21 oyster shooters.

After presumably wiping his mouth, Peck allegedly ran out of the restaurant and straight into the waves as a number of Omeros Bros staffers chased him. According to news.com.au, Peck swam 55 yards offshore and tried to hide underwater. (That worked about as well as you'd expect.) Police officers on jet skis eventually caught up with him, dragged him to dry land, and placed him under arrest.

On Monday morning, Peck—who was already on parole for an unrelated crime—appeared in court. When Magistrate Joan White was informed of what Peck ate for dinner, she said "Oh god! By himself?" She granted Peck bail and told him that he was forbidden from returning to Omeros Bros.

Speaking to reporters outside the courthouse, Peck said that he had been called to the beach by a friend who had gone into labor somewhere on the sand. When he couldn't find her (possibly because she didn't exist?), he decided to take a swim. After that, he was TOTALLY going to return to Omeros Bros to settle up, but he lost his wallet in the surf.

Peck also believes that he's the real victim here, after being assaulted by the high prices at Omeros Bros. "There was oyster shell in the oyster and [a staff member] said he was going to take care of the bill," Peck told the Gold Coast Bulletin. "They should be apologizing to me for the shell in the overpriced food. He said he was going to get the bill […] I told them to tell the chef it was overcooked."

As an aside, Peck's most serious crime might be his music. He is a self-described rapper who performs under the name 2Pec, which should itself be an arrestable offense. He also took a sec to tell reporters that he wanted to battle Eminem, but the actual rapper wouldn't come to Australia to "have a go." His ReverbNation page features some of his songs, which have titles like "Your [sic] So Beautiful to Me," "Tell Me Why There's No Black House," and "time to BLAST!! your ASS!! LOL SLUT." 2Pec is problematic on so many levels.

But back in Real Life, Robert Rank, the manager of Omeros Bros, strongly disagrees with Peck's assessment of his dinner. "It wouldn't have been overcooked," he said. "I'm pretty confident of that."
