MUNCHIES: The Podcast: A Love Letter to LA from Best Coast and Lili Hayes

No one is prouder to eat and live in LA than Bobb Bruno and Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast.

When MUNCHIES touched down in LA for our cookbook party, editor-in-chief Helen Hollyman made the most of it by heading over to Eagle Rock to hang with rock duo Bobb Bruno and Bethany Cosentino of the duo Best Coast and eat some of their favorite local takeout.

Cosentino and Bruno take food as seriously as their music and have a lot of tips about eating on the road, like using Yelp on while on tour to find one-star gems; "I'm not on there seeking knowledge, I'm on there for laughs," Bruno told us.

But Best Coast also have some wisdom to share, like how "eating alone is one of the most underrated things of all time," says Bruno, and how hearing your own music play while you're eating alone is even better, "It's hilarious. It's one of the tightest feelings," according to Cosentino.

Unbeknownst to Bruno and self-proclaimed “Lili Hayes fangirl” Cosentino, we arranged to have Hayes and her son Kevin crash the interview. It all leads to a fascinating discussion with born-and-bred Angelenos about why their city has become one of the most amazing food cities in America.
