You Can Now Get Drunk and Learn How to Make Booze at a 'Gin School'

At the Gin School at Listoke Distillery in County Louth, Ireland, “students” will get a full course load, but first things first: drinking.

Gin may have the power to nearly ruin entire societies, but it can also be a vessel of knowledge.

At least, that's what the Gin School at Listoke Distillery in County Louth, Ireland is trying to convey. For just 95 euros, "students" will get a full course load, but first things first: drinking.

"You will be greeted with light refreshments upon arrival."

Then, a quick history course: "This is followed by a brief introduction and history of Listoke Estate and our distilling heritage." Machine shop is next, with a detailed look at the distillery's "state of the art equipment," followed by more drinking: " Then the fun begins!! We treat you to 3 different gin profiles."

Half in the bag, it's time for you to pay attention during botanicals class, where students learn about and choose their favourite flavour profiles. Finally, it's chemistry class, where you get to make your very own little bottle of gin; "Once you've selected your botanicals you will be ready to distill your own exclusive bottle in your own miniature still."

At this point, you'll probably have a pretty solid buzz going on, like the person who wrote the copy for their website: "Once distilled you botlle [sic], label and seal your product…what you do with if afterwards is up to you!!!" Woo!

Finally, prospective students are reminded that they can ask for more booze at any point. "Refreshments and G&T's will be served throughout your class!!!"

Congratulations, you've learned, and presumably forgotten, everything about making gin from scratch.
