Make These Pentagram Cookies Tonight and Taste the Darkness

Just make sure you throw on some Burzum while you’re baking. And while they may be hungry, don't let the boogeymen bite.

It's Halloween.

The portal to the underworld is open, and we should all be acting—and eating—accordingly. Perhaps we should start by summoning some evil spirits via cookie?

Sure, we may think of cookies as sweet, innocent, and reminiscent of childhood. But a pentagram cookie is the perfect way to remind everyone that no treat is without darkness.

Grab a skull cookie cutter, too, and make some Faces of Death on your cookie canvas. And if you're really serious, a few 666's never hurt anyone. (Or wait—maybe they did?)

These cookies start with a perfect gingerbread base of cinnamon, ginger, allspice, molasses, brown sugar, honey, and, naturally, a touch of black pepper.

You'll want to set aside this recipe for when the cold, cold winds blow. But for now, let's get spooky.

Make the dough, cut the shapes, do some cleverly creepy decorating (note the blood-red icing), and you'll be ready to start your seance.

Grab your molasses, cinnamon, fire, and brimstone, and get to work.
