Chicken-Flavored Chocolate Truffles Might Be KFC's Worst Idea Yet

Somebody needs to stop the Colonel.

Internet meme and greasy bucket vendor KFC wants you to show your dear mom how much you appreciated growing up at a trailer park this Mother's Day with new chicken-flavored chocolate truffles.

Those sweets, which will be available in New Zealand, are part of a partnership between the fast-food chain and artisan chocolatier, Kako Chocolate. Together they will be giving away boxes of the limited-edition chocolates—along with feelings of regret and despair—through Facebook.

Each box will contain four chocolates of two different varieties. The first flavor is a "nutty and creamy milk chocolate truffle topped with 23 carat gold leaf and seasoned with the Colonel's eleven secret herbs and spices."

The second is described as "a dark chocolate truffle infused with their signature hot and spicy marinade."

But what will the Colonel do to give the chocolates that special greasy twist that make them memorable? Will they crisp or crunch like the finely golden-brown skin on a drumstick, breast, or thigh? Alas, only in dreams.

If you happen to have a mom who doesn't understand chicken-chocolates as some kind of erudite troll, well, think about doubling down (sorry for the pun) with any one of KFC's other questionable products: sunscreen, perhaps? Or a scented candle, maybe? Or, if you must, you can grab a copy of the Colonel's new romance novel.
