Did the Founder of Jimmy John's Sandwiches Get Naked and Hump a Dead Shark?

We present the evidence for and against this rapidly spreading claim.

Anneka Svenska, a naturalist and TV host in the UK, would really like your help. On Friday, she posted a photograph that is horrifying in a number of different ways and asked for assistance:

There are so many questions raised by this photo, and so few answers provided. No one has been able to positively identify this large, naked man atop a dead shark—yet—although theories abound.

One such theory is that the nude man is none other than Jimmy John Liautaud, of Jimmy John's sandwich chain fame. For the unfamiliar, Jimmy John's is a sub sandwich franchise with more than 2,500 locations in 46 states.

But a spokesperson for Jimmy John's told Deadspin that the man in the photo is absolutely not Liautaud. MUNCHIES has reached out to both Jimmy John's and their PR firm for comment, but has yet to hear back.

Another contender for the title of Disgusting Dead Shark Humper was Florida Gators coach Jim McElwain, but he, too, vehemently denied that he is the man in the photo.

The thing is, Liautaud seemed to be a pretty viable match, not just because he looks a hell of a lot like the grinning man in the post, but also because he has a controversial history of big game hunting. Snopes has verified that the following are actual photos of the sandwich purveyor displaying his kills:

Back in 2015, LIautaud told the Chicago Tribune: "I choose to hunt and I choose to fish. Everything I've done has been totally legal. And the meat has been eaten, if not by me than by someone I'm with." However, Laiutaud also said, "I don't hunt big African game anymore."

Does he hump doe-eyed sharks, though?

Liautaud's spokespeople says he doesn't.

So, if not him, who is the plump nudist with little respect for enormous dead sea animals? The hunt continues.
