Family Says They Were Banned from Chuck E. Cheese’s for Accusing Employee of Watching Porn

For kids, Chuck E. Cheese's has it all—a ball pit, Skee-Ball, pizza, and a slew of arcade games that, at the faintest signs of competency, pump out tickets redeemable for a variety of cheap plastic toys.

But alas, one family claims that they got a bit more than they bargained for on their last visit: namely, a peek at some porn. Now, they say they've been banned from Chuck E. Cheese's for life following an argument with management about the incident.

According to The Coloradoan, Alyssa Rivas of Nebraska was in Fort Collins, Colorado last weekend with her husband and daughter to visit family. While they were in town, they went to a local Chuck E. Cheese's to celebrate their daughter's seventh birthday.

When an arcade machine stopped working, Rivas and her mother-in-law sought the help of staff. Unable to find a floor employee, they approached the doorman, who Rivas says was watching porn on a cellphone placed inside a drawer.

The family told The Coloradoan they reported the incident to another member of the staff and called the next day to complain to management, who, Rivas says, wasn't helpful. Rivas and her husband returned to the Chuck E. Cheese's and, she alleges, the management "laugh[ed] in her face." An argument ensued, and Rivas says she and her husband were told to never come back.

Later, a call from the Fort Collins Police made it official, with police telling Rivas' husband not to return to the location and giving the Rivas the number for Chuck E. Cheese's corporate offices. The police told the Coloradoan that they had responded to a call about a "hostile man" at the Chuck E. Cheese's location earlier and had been asked to call the Rivas at management's request.

A call to Chuck E. Cheese's corporate from the Rivas prompted an investigation, which found that the alleged porn-watching employee was, in fact, watching wrestling. (LOL.)

"I could see how the guest, looking from behind, could see that and think that could have been porn," a Chuck E Cheese's representative told the Coloradoan. The representative said the employee in question, aged 17, shouldn't have been using his phone unless it was an emergency. ("Define emergency" –a 17-year-old wrestling fan.) She added that Chuck E. Cheese's takes allegations of this kind very seriously, but didn't address the Rivas' ban.

At the time of publication, Chuck E. Cheese's had not respond to MUNCHIES' request for comment.

Rivas insists she saw porn, and was upset by her family's treatment in the wake of a birthday party during which they had spent nearly $500. "Just the way (Chuck E. Cheese) handled it was so unprofessional," she told the Coloradoan.

For now, it looks as if the Rivas's won't be returning to the Fort Collins Chuck E. Cheese's. However, they leave Colorado with a story all the tickets in the world couldn't buy.
