You can file this recipe in the “blank canvas” category. It’s a ridiculously easy way to make your own breakfast carbs from scratch, and once you’ve fried up your masa to its ideal level of crispiness, it’s ready to be topped and garnished with whatever you feel like.
We went with lots of fried stuff, namely refried black beans and a big shiny fried egg that will give you enough sunny-side-up sustenance to take on the cold, brutal realities that await you in the outside world, whether it be the weather or, you know, that omnipresent end-of-the-world vibe.
