MUNCHIES: The Podcast: How Large Marge Is Picking Up Where Betty Crocker Left Off

On the latest episode of the podcast, I sit down with the creator of Large Marge, a catering company that wants to get people back into the kitchen with a unique strategy.

From Bisquick to fluffy birthday cake mix, Betty Crocker has passed through many generations of the American stomach. The fictional, female homemaker persona has managed to adapt to changing social, political, and economic currents with a focus on getting people cooking in their home kitchens.

In 2016, culinary television has never been better, and more Americans are tuning in as if it were Monday Night Football. But we're eating out more and cooking and entertaining at home a lot less. Courtney McBroom, the genius behind catering company Large Marge wants to challenge all of this and "pick up where Betty Crocker left off."

On the latest episode of MUNCHIES: The Podcast, I sit down with Courtney to discuss how the General Mills persona has inspired her to create her business and why she thinks LA is the perfect incubator for getting people back into the kitchen.

So tune into the podcast, subscribe on iTunes if you can dig it, and tell your friends to do the same. And check back in two weeks for the next episode, because we're talking toNiki Nakayama, chef and owner of N/Naka, to learn about the art of Japanese kaiseki cuisine.
