Chef's Night Out: Paladar

We went out for a night around LA with the Paladar crew, from eating good bar food at Freddy Smalls, drinks at Redwood Bar and Grill, and a MUNCHIES meal of chicken katsu at Bobby's restaurant, Bacaro LA.

Back in 2009, as undergrad students at USC, Alex Chang and Bobby Kronfli started Paladar, an illegal, underground restaurant for their friends and fellow classmates. Dissatisfied with the dining options on campus, Alex and Bobby starting cooking the food they loved and hosting dinner parties for their closest friends. When they realized how in demand their food was, the two decided to start a supper club out of their college apartment, where Alex would take the lead as head chef and Bobby would handle the business side. Now, a few years later, Alex and Bobby have entered the real world, where they are running and cooking in their own, legal restaurants. After a night of service, we hit the town with the Paladar crew. Starting with some good bar food at Freddy Smalls, drinks at Redwood Bar and Grill, and a MUNCHIES meal of chicken katsu at Bobby's restaurant, Bacaro LA, it's clear that these recent college grads still know how to party.

Check out their documentary for a deeper look into their Paladar days at USC, now available on iTunes.
